Well here we have the top 5 emcees in the game! According to MTV, they are 1) Rick Ross 2) Drake 3) Kanye West 4) Nicki Minaj and 5) Lil Wayne. Up top is a clip of them talking about the top two and if you hit you can see them talk about Ye, Nicki and Wayne as well as the full list.
Jagz’ opinion: I’m gonna keep this short and sweet. I’m glad Ross got the top spot! He deserved it in my opinion. He’s accomplished a lot in 2011. He crafted and promoted MMG to the highest level and they are now the hottest label in Hip-Hop. He had shows worldwide, he dropped banger after banger, was on the cover of most of the top magazines in the world, I could go on and on. He deserves it. Drake, in a way, deserves number two. Obviously headlined his own tour around the world, sold out shows in the UK within 15 minutes, “Take Care” was a great album with fantastic numbers etc etc. Kanye West deserves number 3. He formed The Throne with Jay-Z and released their solid album “Watch The Throne” which featured two of the hottest singles of 2011, “N*ggas In Paris” and “Otis”. Not only is he a Hip-Hop icon but he’s become a fashion icon too. He launched his own female clothing line called “DW Kanye West” in mid 2011. Now here’s my criticisms. Nicki Minaj does not deserve to be on the list nor does Lil Wayne. Although “Moment 4 Life” did very well at the beginning of 2011, songs like “Superbass” are Pop and cannot be added to her portfolio when we discuss her as an emcee. She did not headline her own tour, she supported Britney for the “Femme Fatale” tour and she did not release an album in 2011. Also, the singles she has released from her forthcoming album have been poor. How on earth did she get number 4? Moving onto Wayne, his album “Carter IV” sold very well, but it was a pathetic album. All I can say is that Wayne stans are delusional. If you complain about all tracks sounds like “B.M.F.” well “6 Foot 7 Foot” is on the same page. Same thing applies to “John”. Oh and lets not forgot how bad his mixtape “Sorry 4 The Wait” was, man that was ridiculously poor. However, Wayne did headline his own “Carter IV” tour but that still doesn’t make him eligible for the number 5 spot. I think Wayne and Nicki should be taken off the list and J. Cole, Young Jeezy or Kendrick Lamar should be added. That’s my opinion.
Here’s an unreleased track/video by Nicki Minaj entitled “Dirty Money”. DEFINITELY before she signed to YM! How times have changed! She actually went in.
